Upper Keys: Pennekamp shoreline, Harry Harris, Islamorada
Key Largo (/keys/key-largo) is the reef gateway, not a Miami-style beach town. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park (/places/john-pennekamp-coral-reef-state-park-145077261) is the honest park day: gate, parking and whatever shoreline the park is offering that morning. Mapped names inside the park—Cannon Beach (/places/cannon-beach-973246504) and Far Beach (/places/far-beach-973235550)—still follow park rules. They are not a free U.S. 1 pull-off. Tavernier (/keys/tavernier) is the practical Upper Keys county-park pin. The same property holds Harry Harris Park Boat Ramp (/places/harry-harris-park-ramp).
