Key Largo is the first major island base after the mainland and works well for reef trips, diving, fishing and a shorter first driving day. Its length makes the exact mile marker important when combining a hotel, marina and dinner reservation.
Use the directory to build a compact cluster around the departure point. Saving the nearest fuel, pharmacy and breakfast option can prevent an unnecessary drive before an early boat check-in. For marina and launch staging on this island—not a ranking—use the directory listings for Pilot House Marina, Marina Club Key Largo at Blackwater Sound, the Caribbean Club pay ramp, Rowell's Waterfront Park and King's Kamp (King's Kamp RV Park and Marina). Confirm access on each source. Monroe County says Rowell's Waterfront Park is closed from Sept. 21, 2026 until further notice to complete Phase 2 construction, and expects the project to be completed in December 2026 (https://www.monroecounty-fl.gov/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/1872). Plan another launch until the County reopens it.
