How the Stock Island waterfront is laid out
Stock Island sits at about MM 4–5, one bridge east of Key West. Its marinas fall into three clusters, and knowing which one you need saves a lot of driving around the island. On Peninsular Avenue, facing Boca Chica Channel, are Stock Island Yacht Club & Marina at 6000, Oceanside Marina at Hilton Key West Resort & Marina at 5950 and Buddy's Boat Yard & Marina at 6011. On Shrimp Road are Stock Island Marina Village at 7005 and Robbie's Marina of Key West at 7281.
The third cluster faces the Cow Key Channel side, close to U.S. 1. Hurricane Hole Marina is at 5130 Overseas Highway, Cow Key Marina is at 5001 5th Avenue, and Beach Weekend Marina, formerly Murray Marine, is at 5710 Overseas Highway. The public launch, Stock Island Public Boat Ramp, is at MM 5 oceanside.
Nothing here is ranked; the order is geographic. Each name links to a KeysCompass page that points back to the operator's own site. Slip availability, fuel prices and office hours change constantly, so call the marina before you head over.
- Peninsular Avenue: Stock Island Yacht Club, Hilton Oceanside, Buddy's.
- Shrimp Road: Stock Island Marina Village, Robbie's.
- Cow Key Channel side: Hurricane Hole, Cow Key Marina, Beach Weekend.
- Public ramp: MM 5 oceanside.
Transient slips and overnight dockage
Stock Island Marina Village is the big one. It says it has 288 slips and can take vessels up to 450 feet, and that every reservation includes dockage, water, pump-out and access to the property's amenities, which include two pools, three dockside restaurants and bars, The Perry Hotel (The Perry Hotel & Marina Key West) and a free shuttle to Old Town. The marina says it monitors VHF channels 10 and 16 during office hours.
Oceanside Marina at Hilton Key West Resort & Marina lists 111 wet slips for vessels up to 140 feet, with 30/50-amp power, Wi-Fi and water at each dock, and a mobile pump-out. It recommends reserving a slip ahead in peak season, and says slip guests can reach the dining and pools at the resort next door, Hilton Key West Resort & Marina. Stock Island Yacht Club offers wet and dry slips for short visits or longer stays, plus restrooms, showers, laundry and Wi-Fi. Its own pages do not state a maximum transient length, so treat that as unknown and ask.
The smaller docks suit smaller boats. Hurricane Hole Marina says its docks hold 42 vessels up to 34 feet, split between a front dock and a back dock, and it takes both transient and long-term boats. Buddy's Boat Yard lists wet, transient, monthly and commercial slips, but its site gives no size limits. Robbie's says it handles large commercial vessels and motor yachts with deep-water access. Its site does not describe transient slips for visitors, so ask before you plan a night there.
- Large yachts: Stock Island Marina Village or the Hilton marina, by their stated limits.
- Boats up to 34 feet: Hurricane Hole is sized for you.
- Stock Island Yacht Club: transient yes, maximum length unknown.
- Reserve ahead in peak season.
Fuel and pump-out
Fuel is easy to find on Stock Island, but the fuel types differ. Stock Island Yacht Club lists diesel and REC-90 and a free pump-out. Stock Island Marina Village sells diesel and REC 90 and posts its fuel prices on its own site. The Hilton marina has a fuel dock with gas, diesel and ice, and says its new fuel and pump-out facility has more than 200 feet of seawall for tying up side-to.
Hurricane Hole sells ethanol-free gasoline. Cow Key Marina and Beach Weekend Marina both list marine fuel without naming the grades, and Robbie's says it offers fueling for all types of vessels. We do not publish fuel prices or fuel-dock hours. Check the marina's page or radio ahead.
- Diesel: Stock Island Yacht Club, Marina Village, Hilton marina, Robbie's.
- Ethanol-free gas: Hurricane Hole.
- Free pump-out: Stock Island Yacht Club.
- Prices and fuel-dock hours: check the marina, not this page.
Haul-outs, repairs and dry storage
Two of the Stock Island yards are working boatyards rather than resort marinas. Robbie's Marina of Key West handles haul-outs (by request form) and repairs, including fiberglass, electronics, outboards and canvas, for commercial boats and yachts. It is not Robbie's of Islamorada: the Key West yard says it has no restaurant and no tarpon feeding. Buddy's Boat Yard lists a 75-metric-ton travel lift, haul-and-block, half hauls, dry storage and work on commercial vessels. The yard is managed by Bartlum Yards LLC.
For dry storage, Beach Weekend Marina lists 144 high-and-dry slips, a ship's store and repair service. Hurricane Hole has an indoor dry boat barn and trailer storage, and the Hilton marina lists covered and dry-rack storage. None of these yards publishes repair rates or turnaround times; get a written quote.
- Haul-outs and repairs: Robbie's, Buddy's.
- High-and-dry racks: Beach Weekend, Hilton marina.
- Trailer storage: Hurricane Hole.
- Robbie's of Key West has no restaurant or tarpon feeding.
Charters, rentals and a meal at the dock
Several marinas double as charter docks. Stock Island Yacht Club lists its own onsite charter partners, and Fun In The Sun Charters & Boat Rentals is based there. Rusty's Bucket Charters fishes from Hurricane Hole, which also has bait, tackle and a dive shop. Cow Key Marina runs boat rentals and backcountry eco and kayak tours, and its marina store sells bait and tackle. Beach Weekend Marina rents pontoons and fishing boats. To choose a fishing format, read Key West fishing charters: how to choose.
If you want a meal at the marina, a few have kitchens on site. Stock Rock Café is the waterfront café at Cow Key Marina. At Stock Island Marina Village, Matt's Stock Island Kitchen & Bar sits on the Perry marina, and the restaurant says it will cook a catch you bring in. The Hilton says its restaurants, including Yellowfin Bar & Kitchen, are open to both resort guests and visitors. Along Front Street, Hogfish Bar & Grill and The Docks Restaurant + Raw Bar are working-waterfront tables. The Hurricane Hole restaurant shares a complex with the marina but is run as a separate restaurant. Find more places to eat at Stock Island restaurants.
- Charter docks: Stock Island Yacht Club, Hurricane Hole.
- Rentals: Cow Key Marina, Beach Weekend.
- Dock-and-dine: Stock Rock Café at Cow Key, Matt's at Marina Village, Hilton restaurants open to visitors.
- Confirm kitchen hours with the restaurant.
Launching a trailer boat
Stock Island has one public ramp. Stock Island Public Boat Ramp, at MM 5 oceanside, is the FDOT wayside that FWC lists as Florida Keys public ramp #8. FWC records no docks or restrooms there and notes it can be difficult for anyone with little trailering experience. The full Keys picture is in Florida Keys boat ramps: fees, parking and launches by Key and on Public Boat Ramps & Docks.
FWC's Keys ramp index (survey data from 2010) lists ramps at Cow Key Marina, the former Murray Marine (now Beach Weekend Marina) and the Oceanside marina as marina fee ramps, not public launches. Cow Key's listing is a private fee ramp run by the marina. Beach Weekend's own page does not list a launch, and the Hilton marina page does not mention one, so call before you tow.
- Public launch: Stock Island Public Boat Ramp, MM 5 oceanside.
- Marina ramps are private and set their own fees and rules.
- Call before you tow to Beach Weekend or the Hilton marina.
What we could not confirm
Some details are not on the operators' own pages, so we have left them as unknown instead of guessing. These include the maximum transient length at Stock Island Yacht Club, transient slips for visitors at Robbie's, and slip sizes and fuel at Buddy's. We also could not confirm slip counts at Cow Key Marina, the fuel grades at Cow Key and Beach Weekend, or whether the Beach Weekend and Hilton marina ramps are open to the public today. Ask the marina directly.
For a land day on the island, the Stock Island working-waterfront day kit is on Day kits. Save a marina, a meal and your pillow in Trip planner.
- Unknown means the operator doesn't publish it; ask them.
- Day kit: Stock Island working-waterfront day on Day kits.
Frequently asked questions
Which Stock Island marinas take transient boats?
Stock Island Marina Village, the Oceanside Marina at Hilton Key West Resort & Marina, Stock Island Yacht Club, Hurricane Hole Marina and Buddy's Boat Yard all describe transient or short-stay dockage on their own sites. Their stated size limits differ: Marina Village says up to 450 feet, the Hilton marina up to 140 feet and Hurricane Hole up to 34 feet. Stock Island Yacht Club and Buddy's do not publish a limit. Reserve ahead in peak season.
Where can I get fuel on Stock Island?
Stock Island Yacht Club (diesel and REC-90), Stock Island Marina Village (diesel and REC 90), the Hilton marina (gas and diesel), Hurricane Hole (ethanol-free gasoline), Robbie's, Cow Key Marina and Beach Weekend Marina all list fuel. We do not publish fuel prices or hours. Check the marina.
Is Robbie's on Stock Island the same as Robbie's in Islamorada?
No. Robbie's Marina of Key West, at 7281 Shrimp Road, is a marina and boatyard for dockage, haul-outs, repairs and fuel. It says it has no restaurant and no tarpon feeding. Those are at Robbie's of Islamorada.
Is there a public boat ramp on Stock Island?
Yes. Stock Island Public Boat Ramp at MM 5 oceanside is the FDOT wayside that FWC lists as public ramp #8, with no docks or restrooms. The other ramps FWC lists on Stock Island are marina fee ramps with their own rules.
Can I eat at a Stock Island marina restaurant if I am not staying there?
Often, yes, but check each one. The Hilton says its restaurants are open to visitors. Stock Rock Café at Cow Key Marina and Matt's at the Perry marina have their own listings. Confirm hours and reservations with the restaurant.
Does this guide rank marinas or show slip rates?
No. Marinas are listed by location, not ranked, and organic order is never sold. A Verified source label means the listing's source was checked, not a paid rank. Slip rates, fuel prices and office hours change often, so get them from the marina.
